It has been said many times that your office desk and how it is kept is a reflection of who you are. After all, the phrase “a cluttered desk means a cluttered mind” is a widely accepted fact. It makes sense. If you can’t even keep track or find the time to organize something as little as your own desk, then how are you supposed to convince others (especially your superiors) that you can handle a bigger and more challenging task? While that may be unfair sometimes, you can’t control what other people will think. And if you have an untidy desk, then that is surely going to be their perception of you.
