Power tools are instruments that help us do heavy-duty work and these have two general kinds: corded power tools and cordless power tools. The main difference between the two is that the former has to be plugged into an electric socket so it can do work. The latter, on the other hand, is battery-operated so you can carry it along when your work requires you to transfer locations. Using these two has advantages and disadvantages and these are discussed in the following paragraphs.
First, let us discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using cordless power tools. As mentioned, using cordless tools allow the worker to bring the tool to his work area whenever necessary. Hence, they are portable and convenient to use. Additionally, since these are carried around, they are designed to be light-weight. Cordless tools are run by batteries so you do not have to look for an electrical socket to make them work. Being cordless is an advantage itself because it spares you from the hassle of dragging the cords around. These are ideal to be used at homes where children are present. Children like to run around often and they might trip on the cord, causing accidents to happen. Batteries are used to run these working tools and due to the technological advancements that we currently enjoy, batteries are made to have longer life. Hence, you can do more work with the cordless tools. Of course, using batteries can be a disadvantage too. You cannot work as long as you would want to because all batteries have limited power output and the batteries can be expensive when they need to be replaced.
Let us now go to the corded power tools. Since corded tools are connected to an electricity source, you can maximize your work. You can also expect high-performance from these tools unlike the battery-operated ones. These ones are used ideally for heavy-duty jobs because of their steady power supply. However, just like the cordless ones, these tools also have disadvantages. The cord can be an electrical hazard once it has damage on it. Also, people can trip over the cord and cause electrical accidents.
The job requirements have to be carefully assessed when choosing a power tools that is fit for the job. Once you know this, you should also know whether the place where you will be working is suitable for the equipment that you need. You can visit hardware shops and choose from the brands that are known to produce tools that are of good quality to ensure safety and efficiency.
